Executive Summary
Along with the advancement of information technologis, information systemhave emerged as an essential health care tool. This is evident in the fact several hospitals are in the process of implementing of planning to implement a Hospital Information System (HIS). HIS is in high demand to handle growing population activities with timely service and precision. Juan M. Alberto Memorial District Hospital as an area of healthcare sector, are expected to provide the best possible support to patient care. JMAMDH currently experiences problems with their existing manual system such as slow retrieval of patient records from filing cabinets which are cumbersome and difficult to manage. They are planning to implement an automated hospital system that will replace their paper medical records with electronic records that is much easier to manage and retrieve. These problems lead to the proposal on an Automated Hospital System for JMAMDH. Pertinent information was gathered by conducting interviews to some hospital staff and these information serves as basis in development the system. The software developement process applied is prototyping. They also make use of various diagrams to illustrate the different components of the system such as Input Process Output chart (IPO chart), Functional Decomposition Diagram (FDD), Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) and others. For the evaluation of the system, a five point rating scale questionnaire was usesd, with JMAMDH staff as respondent , to determine the system's functionality, efficiency, usability, reliability and security. Descriptive statistics like frequencies and weighted means were utilized to analyze and interpret the responses. The system is capable of managing patient's record and biling transaction. Additionally, the system is also capable of monitoring then in & out of medicines and inventory control in pharmacy.
